Smile
Sengoku Basara - Ishida Mitsunari x Reader
A/N: I only own the storyline in this work. I’m very sorry if I made Mitsunari seem too OOC. I will try to capture his character better in the next fanfic (hopefully, fingers crossed!) Had a little writer’s block whie writing this. Hope it turns out well for all the readers out there! Happy reading and leave a comment =)

It was that time of the year again. The time where the sakura flowers would bloom, and where the birds would sing on tree tops, festivals abundant on the street. Yup, definitely spring. You were just another normal village girl, no, there was nothing much to say about you. Except for the fact that you were the most sought out beauty in the village. Yes, you were __. Daughter of the local green grocer, nicknamed: blooming beauty. Now, you were a beauty, that’s for sure. People would just praise you on and on of how beautiful you looked and that did cause you some annoyance. However…the same cannot be said for your luck in the love department.

Ah, yes, the love department. You dreaded the experience of confessions and confessing to some random guy that you fancied. The last heartbreak was still a vivid scene in your head. You desperately wanted to forget the scene, but it seemed impossible to do so. Pushing that scene to the back of your head, you headed to where the sakura trees were abundant. Plopping yourself under said tree, you admired the beauty of the flower petals descending slowly, floating freely in the air. You inhaled, taking in the scenery on the mountain top. Certainly, it was pleasing to see everything fresh and alive in spring. Closing your eyes, you let yourself drift in the midst of peace and serenity but it didn’t last long as you were awakened by the trotting of horses through the village.

It was rare for soldiers to pass through your village at this time of year. You were both curious and scared at the same time. Soldiers were never good news. To you, some soldiers were men of honour but the majority were just drunk, arrogant men who went to the battlefield, killing as they saw fit. Let’s just say soldiers did not leave a good impression on you. At the front of the troop was Ishida Mitsunari, the commander of the whole Western Army. You had failed to notice this and just labelled him as a weird soldier with a peculiar dressing sense. That all changed after this one little incident…

You were wandering around the village and didn’t really had a sense of direction of where you were going. By coincidence, you stumbled upon soldier campgrounds. There were men everywhere. You were not at all pleased to be there. You were yanked by the arm by a random, foul smelling soldier.

“Well, well, what do we have here?” The soldier said in a menacing tone. You tried to escape his grasp but you failed horribly. To be honest, your battle skills were on par with the worst of the average and you weren’t trained for combat either. You thought that you were going to get it this time but instead you heard a loud ‘thud’ and your arm was released.

You opened your eyes slowly to see what had happened. You saw Mitsunari glaring at the soldier who tried to assault you earlier.

“I have no need for such impudent soldiers.” Mitsunari said with a stern voice.

“I’m sorry Mitsunari-sama! It will not-”

“Silence! Leave before I decide to lay waste to your entire being.”

With that, the soldier ran off and left you and MItsunari there. Mitsunari turned his head to look at you. You were about to thank him when…

“Peasant, state your business here.”
‘Way to ruin the moment…’ You thought to yourself.
“Thank you my lord, for your-” You were half way in finishing your sentence when Mitsunari rudely interrupted you.

“I have no need for your gratitude peasant. You may leave.” Mitsunari said in his usual tone.

For the first time in your life, you wanted to hit someone. And that was certainly a bizarre first impression on you. You certainly could not forget the day the both of you met. His handsome features embedded into your mind. If you hadn’t met him, you wouldn’t be here at this very moment.

You smilled, remembering past events on how you and MItsunari met. Certainly, your meeting was not at all pleasant but you found yourself more and more interested in him. Your relationship went…well? Mitsunari was the silent type and you were not his favourite type of person to be around, but, nonetheless, he found himself intrigued by your ‘annoying features’. Your relationship with him was average yet closely bonded, how? You didn’t know either. The both of you rarely held hands, kissed or even hugged each other. But when you do, it was never short of affection.

Now, you were sitting in Mitsunari’s chambers in Osaka castle, his head on your lap. You stroked his platinum silver hair softly and admired how soft it was. With each movement, you earned a cute grunt from Mitsunari. You took in his features, they were as vivid as they were on the day you met and fell for him. His angular face, his porcelain skin and of course, his platinum silver hair. Not to forget those piercing orbs that pierced through your heart at first glance. He was unmistakably the best man you’ve ever met.

While you were immersed in your reverie, you had failed to notice the little smirk on Mitsunari’s face. Truly, he had never seen a woman fawn over him the way you did. He adored the way your eyes shined when you were with him. But he was never going to tell you that. As moments pass by, Mitsunari simply enjoyed his moment on your lap. Good things must always come to an end as he needed to write some reports for his future battles. He sat up, and walked towards his desk.

“Mitsu-kun~” You purred. You didn’t want him to leave as you two rarely had such a moment to spend with each other. Mitsunari stopped and turned around to face you. He kneeled down, extending his hand and petting your head.

“You never cease to amaze me woman, what have you done to me that makes me want to be with you this badly hm?” Mitsunari questioned with his usual scowl but with a tint of softness. You blushed madly at his query and all of a sudden, time seemed to have stopped, Mitsunari then said:

“Do not fret woman, I promise it will be quick. And as your reward, I assure you that you’l have fun tonight.” He said in a sultry tone. With that, Mitsunari left his chambers and left for his work office, leaving a very flustered and confused you at his chambers.

“Mitsu-kun! You promised okay?” You called out to him. This time Mitsunari turned around and gave you one of his ghost of a smile which managed to send butterflies a flutter in your heart. Yes, certainly you had fallen in love with his smil-err…smirks and other assets that he had with him all along.  When night fall came, let’s say Mitsunari kept his end of his promise and he even added a little extra something to your promise. The night went well and you were asleep in Mitsunari’s arms, petite hands on his sculpted chest. Mitsunari smiled at you before giving in to sleep. You were perfectly happy with him. You couldn’t ask for more, plus, you’re the only woman he’d smile for. Everything was perfect. You never imagined falling in love with a general, not even a little, but in the end, you had no regrets.

Definitely, this was the BEST decision in your life, EVER.

The End
